Chromite occurs exclusively in ultramafic rocks such as dunite, peridotite, pyroxenite and serpentinite. High purity deposits are rare owing to replacement by certain elements. In nature, ferrous iron tends to be partially replaced by magnesium, while chromium may be partially replaced by aluminium or ferric iron.
Sicheng focus is on supplying metallurgical grades chromite of South African origin with the following characteristics:
– Cr2O3 ranging from 35 % to 45 %
– SiO2 ranging from 2 % to 12 %
– wet or dry
– sizing ranging from concentrate (0 – 1 mm) to ‘0 – 10 mm’ to lumpy (10 – 150 mm).
Metallurgical grades can be shipped loose in bulk or packed in big bags, in both FCL’s and bulk carrier loads, depending on customer’s requirements.
